Ile des Chênes Physiotherapy FAQs
Do I Need a Referral From My Doctor To See a Physiotherapist?
The simple answer is no! Physiotherapists are primary health care providers in Manitoba and you can self-refer. The only time you need a referral is if your insurance provider requires one.
What Should I Expect at My First Appointment?
At your first appointment, your physiotherapist will gather information about your injury, health history and goals for attending treatment. Then they will perform a comprehensive exam to determine the source of the problem.
After the assessment is done you will be educated on your diagnosis and will receive treatment. Every client leaves with exercises to perform at home. Throughout the session, your physiotherapist will educate you on what they are doing and ensure you are comfortable. You will have the opportunity to ask questions at any time!
How Many Physiotherapy Sessions Will I Need?
The number of sessions required depends on the severity and nature of your condition, your overall health, and how well you respond to treatment. Some minor injuries may improve within a few sessions, while chronic or more complex conditions might require ongoing care over several weeks or months.
Your physiotherapist will provide an estimated timeline based on your progress and treatment goals. To optimize recovery, they may also recommend exercises and strategies you can do at home to speed up healing and maintain long-term results.
