Do I need a referral from my doctor to see a physiotherapist?

The simple answer is no!  Physiotherapists are primary health care providers in Manitoba and you can self refer.  The only time you need a referral is if your insurance provider requires one.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

At your first appointment your physiotherapist will gather information about your injury, health history and goals for attending treatment. Then they will perform a comprehensive exam to determine what is the source of the problem. After the assessment is done you will be educated on your diagnosis and will receive treatment. Every patient leaves with exercises to perform at home. Throughout the session, your physiotherapist will educate you on what they are doing and ensure you are comfortable. You will have the opportunity to ask questions at any time!

Who covers the cost of my physiotherapy session?

Manitoba Health does not cover any physiotherapy unless received in a public physiotherapy setting.  Your session can be paid for either by your own healthcare insurance if you have coverage, Workers Compensation if applicable, Manitoba Public Insurance if applicable or you can pay out of pocket for the session.

Will you direct bill my insurance company?

We do offer direct billing to Blue Cross, Canada Life (previously Great West Life), Sunlife, Manulife, Claim Secure and Johnston Group . Direct billing to WCB and MPI is done free of charge.

Can you direct bill two insurance companies on our behalf?

Unfortunately we cannot, however we can do one and provide a receipt for you to submit to the second company.

Is acupuncture or dry needling offered at the clinic?

All of our physiotherapists are certified in acupuncture and can be added to your treatment session.  Kristi Hunter and Kelsey Brown are also certified in dry needling.  Please ask your physiotherapist for additional details.

What do I need to bring to my appointment?

Please remember a face mask (disposable or reusable), and shorts or an accessible top if applicable to your treatment.

I’ve lost my receipt! Can you issue me a new one?

Yes! We can easily email your receipt duplicate or print one at the clinic. We can also provide a statement of your payments for the year for any reason or if you need it for tax season.

Are you open evenings or weekends?

We are open some evenings each week, as well as some early morning appointments. However we are not open on weekends.

What hours are you currently open?

We are open Monday through Friday, physiotherapists offer hours as early as 8:00 am and as late as 6:30 pm.
